(NEWS) Rep. Farouk Lawan Appears at Police Headquarters, But Without the Infamous $620,000 ‘Bribe’ Money

Mr. Farouk Lawan, the member of the House of Representatives who admitted that he collected $620,000 from oil magnate Femi Otedola but claimed it was not a bribe, finally showed up at Force Headquarters in Abuja today, but without the money.

Sources said  that infuriated Commissioner of Police Ali Amodu, who heads the investigating police team.

It was told that the chairman of the ad hoc committee which probed the subsidy scam arrived in Mr. Amodu’s office at about mid-day and left around 4.29pm.  Accompanying him was the Secretary of the committee, Mr. Boniface Emenalo.

It was learnt that the Police has already sent a letter to the Speaker of the House, Aminu Tambuwal, to help them retrieve the exhibit from Lawan.

One of Lawan’s lawyers, Mr. Sam Ologunorisa, confirmed the Representative’s presence at Force Headquarters, but described the visit as “normal.” He said neither Mr. Lawan nor his lawyers were against the investigations.

Meanwhile, Police investigators will tomorrow interrogate seven other members of the committee.  They are Ali Amad, John Enoh, Umar Sade, James Faleke, Eucharia Azodo and Irona Alphonsus.
