Femi Anikulapo kuti an icon at 50 years, spanning over a fruitful and successful music career. Born Olufela Olufemi Anikulapo Kuti to legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela & Remi Anikulapo Kuti on 16th June, 1962 in the United Kingdom. I am personally a renowned fan of the Afrobeat crooner, his music has served has a source of inspiration and hope for millions of people all around the world.

His international career began in 1988 when he was invited by the french Cultural Centre in Lagos and Christain Mousset to perform at the festival d'Angouleme(France), the New Morning Club in Paris and the Moers Festival in Germany.


Furthermore, in 2001 Femi collaborated on his album “Fight to Win” with a number of U.S. musicians, including Common, Mos Def, and Jaguar Wright.

Femi has been nominated for a Grammy award three times in the world music category in 2003, 2010 and 2012 but yet to be crowned with the ultimate award in music history. He has also been very active and strongly committed to social and political causes throughout his career.

The 50th Birthday celebration was a very colourful event with loads of family and friends on ground of the African Shrine to share in Femi’s joy, it was a day to remember as hundreds of people came out in their “Aso Ebi” to honour the Legendary Femi Kuti. WE wish him many more good years ahead.
